Pre-Shoot Checklist

Having the home prepared for the photography appointment will assist with maximizing the quality of the photos. The minimum goal is to have the home in ‘show ready’ condition.

Below is a list of suggestions to be completed prior to the appointment.

INTERIOR
  • De-clutter the house. Envision a model home, that’s the goal. I often tell homeowners ‘photo ready’ condition is equivalent to if not a notch higher than ‘show ready’ condition.

  • Clear all kitchen counter tops and put away toasters, can openers, etc. A completely clear kitchen countertop is the goal.

  • Wipe down the surface of all appliances, which includes removing all magnets and misc notes, etc from the refrigerator.

  • Clear all bathroom counter tops and put away all personal items. Make sure all toilet seats and lids are down. Remove dirty towels - leave out only new, unused towels.

  • Make all beds, fluff the pillows and check bed skirts.

  • Open the curtains and blinds.

  • Replace any burned out light bulbs.

  • Straighten all pictures and wall hangings.

  • Remove or hide all visible interior trash bins.

  • Turn off all ceiling fans.

  • Ensure access is available to all rooms within the home.

EXTERIOR
  • De-clutter the exterior of the home, which includes clearing the driveway and curb of all vehicles and trash bins. Also remove or put away any lawnmowers, garage items, toys, etc.

  • Cut the lawn and manicure any shrubs and/or flowerbeds.

  • Clean the porch, deck and screened porch and straighten any exterior furniture.

  • If necessary, have the exterior of the home pressure washed.

PETS AND HOLIDAY
  • Make sure all pets are removed from the home or are secured. If there are pets, hide all food/water bowls, pet beds, and pet toys. See ‘Pet Policy’ in Terms & Conditions.

  • If applicable, remove any seasonal/holiday decorations that can quickly outdate your photos.
